Introduction

Through role plays and simulated case-studies, you will get to hone your skills to be the spokesperson of the organisation. This workshop will show you the skills to improve your public image and reputation. You will get an insight into the newsroom - how reporters get their stories and what is news from the editor's perspective. You will learn to control media interviews by not just answering reporter's questions but to ensure that your key corporate messages are properly conveyed. You will practice articulating your key messages in front of a TV camera, in unexpected ambush situation and in face-to-face print interview.You will learn to enhance and safeguard your organisation's corporate governance under both amiable and turbulent conditions and to handle aggressive reporters effectively.

About the facilitator

Mr Lockeyear is a consultant in communications, management and good governance. He spent many years with the Hong Kong Police and, as Director of public relations, was the official police spokesman from 1992 to 1996. He handled the Chinese gold shop and bank robberies, the Goosehead Vietnamese clash, the Shek Kong fire, the '97 issues, Lan Kwai Fong 1993 stampede, etc. He also headed the 24-hour newsroom, which handled an average of 600 media enquiries per day throughout this period. Besides the Police, he was also advising the Hong Kong government on publicity strategy. He has wide experience of training in crisis management, communications and public speaking. He has trained participants from Air HK, BP China, Dragages et Travaux Publics, Hong Kong Government Environmental Protection Department, The Land Registry, GE Capital, Havi Food Services, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, LVMH Asia Pacific, Northern Air Products (Tianjin), P&O Nedlloyd, The Hong Kong Cancer Fund, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (over 42 senior staff), Winterthur Life Insurance Co and many others.
